This photograph is called Friday Nights. I came upon the title, simply because that’s what we usually find ourselves doing on any given Friday or Saturday night. Just hanging out with friends, talking cars and enjoying Tucson nights. I really love the symmetry of the photograph most; appealing to the part of me that most days feels balanced. Cutting the two outside cars really makes the photograph feel wide; which is something that I find I like about the photograph. This in combination with quite a distance of road in front of the cars makes the photograph appear “open”. One thing I wish that I could change about the picture is all the distracting noise in the background. The lighting from signs and other streetlights can be a bit distracting at points. I do however like the amber glow coming from inside the pharmacy. The focus of my photography has really changed from taking mostly photographs of natural objects (tree’s, plants, animals) to taking photographs of mostly cars, and other man made objects. Especially with cars, I find it almost challenging getting the angles, tones, and lines that make for professional car photography. Getting the right spot for photographing cars is also a challenge. Backgrounds need to be interesting yet simple, and especially at night, proper lighting is scarce. I feel that I am growing as an automobile photographer, and hope that opportunities lead me to more of this type of photography in the near future.
